Ted Talks: What Sitting all Day does to your Brain & Body

Thu 29 Oct, 10:00 AM AEST, 135 Bundall Rd, Surfers Paradise 4217, Queensland
Watch this at home before you join us. Can a five-minute walk change how you feel all day? Exercise scientist Keith Diaz shows how your body is built for the kind of movement that modern life has quietly erased — and suggests something refreshingly doable: making time for small doses of movement sprinkled throughout the day, as a way to boost your brain and body. As it is important for us to keep up to date with technology, this one is fascinating. Pauline will lead this interesting and fun discussion. Bring along an open mind and a sense of humour - $5 cash for non members. Cheers Chris [email protected]

QLD AI Hub Gold Coast – Deploying AI in Business: What Actually Works

Thu 29 Oct, 5:00 PM AEST+1 more date, 16 Nexus Way
Most businesses have now run an AI pilot. Far fewer have put one into daily use and kept it there. This session looks at the gap between the two: where AI is doing real work inside Queensland businesses today, what it took to get it there, and what the people who deployed it would do differently. Denver opens with what Zeligate has learned taking an AI co-worker into hiring teams, then a panel of operators who have deployed AI in their own businesses takes it from there. Join the Queensland AI Hub Gold Coast Chapter at Cohort Innovation Space on the 29th of October to learn more about how to get AI working for your business from leading operators.

The 2026 finalists were selected by a panel of leading art, culture and design professionals including Sally Brand, Dr Simon Maidment, Imelda Miller, Brian Parkes and Kimberly Stokes. Together, these artists reflect the exciting innovation of Queensland's emerging talent, offering compelling approaches to metal, timber, clay, glass and textiles. Gathering talent from the Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, Ipswich, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Townsville and Cairns, this exhibition represents a fresh chapter for craft and design in Queensland. The UNLEASHED+ 2026 finalists are Ben Adams, Julia Bramich, Céline Caron, Gabi Harris, Petalia Humphreys, Jacqueline Kaytar, Michelle Le Plastrier, William MacLean, Jude Muduioa, Rachel North, Rhiannon Sothern and Tom Summers.
