Offbeat Gallery Hop - Fortitude Valley

Event details: Let's go exploring some of Fortitude Valley's independent galleries and see what Brisbane's contemporary art scene has to offer. We'll meet at the Institute of Modern Art (IMA) and then make our way through a selection of galleries around Fortitude Valley, including some of the bigger established galleries as well as smaller and more experimental spaces. The exact route will depend on what's showing at the time, but we'll aim to visit several galleries around the Brunswick Street / New Farm end of the Valley. Expect a mixture of contemporary art, emerging artists, established artists and possibly some things that leave us wondering “.what exactly am I looking at?” 😄 IMA website: Some others we might visit: This isn't intended to be a serious art critique or guided tour — just a chance to wander around, see some interesting stuff and discover galleries you might not normally visit. We'll finish somewhere nearby for coffee, food and/or drinks for anyone who would like to continue the afternoon. Running late or can't find us? I'll leave an update with our current location whenever we've moved on to another gallery or stopped somewhere for food or a break. The exact gallery order and route may change depending on opening hours, exhibitions and what looks interesting on the day. Personal disclaimer: I've run a number of meetups in the past (in Sydney) and attended many more (all over the world), and I have learned it best not to give anyone my phone number straight away.
