Afghanistan Veterans Commemoration Day Service & Casual Lunch

Join us for a brief, meaningful commemoration to recognise and honour Australians who served in Afghanistan, remember the 41 Australians who lost their lives, and acknowledge the families who supported them throughout their service. Designed to be respectful without being overly formal, the commemoration will include a veteran reflection, recognition of those who served across the Army, Navy and Air Force, acknowledgement of Military Working Dogs, a single wreath laying, recognition of families, a minute’s silence, The Ode, Last Post and Rouse. All veterans and community members are welcome to attend the service. Following the commemorative event, the day will transition into a relaxed lunch by the creek, giving Afghanistan veterans and their families an opportunity to reconnect, share a meal and simply spend time together. The lunch will feature pizzas and finger food, licensed bar facilities, background music, creekside seating and a family friendly atmosphere. Registration is required for each person attending the lunch. The schedule includes arrival and gathering at 10am, a semi-formal service at the Currumbin RSL Cenotaph at 11am, and a casual lunch on the deck at 12pm.
