The Evil Dead

They got up on the wrong side of the grave. 45 years on and still as terrifying as ever, the first film in horror master, writer-director Sam Raimi’s acclaimed trilogy, The Evil Dead, returns to cinemas for a special anniversary screening. Ashley "Ash" Williams, his girlfriend and three pals hike into the woods to a cabin for a fun night away. There they find an old book, the Necronomicon, whose text reawakens the dead when it is read aloud. The friends inadvertently release a flood of evil and must fight for their lives or become one of the evil dead. Ash watches his friends become possessed and must make a difficult decision before daybreak to save his own life. Featuring outstanding performances from Bruce Campbell, Ellen Sandweiss, Richard DeManincor and Betsy Baker, The Evil Dead embraces the camp and the fearlessness that goes into giving in to every gory, strange impulse, filled with innovative camerawork and audiovisual intoxication that makes this creeper a home run.
