Come try Punch Needle Rug Making, this technique mimics my own process of hand tufting without all the infrastructure. A simple hand-held tool, a backing cloth stretched tight onto a frame and some hand dyed wool, is all you need to catch the bug. I call this Rugmaking for the modern maker, it is simple, fast and addictive. This condensed workshop teaches you the basics of punch needle and allows time to explore the technique, without the pressure of having to complete a piece. Wool and backing fabric for practice rug making provided. See Kits, Tools and, Frames here. Suitable for beginners aged 12 and up. Children under the age of 12 will need to be accompanied by a participating adult. Punch Needle Taste Testers are scheduled on the first Saturday of each Month from 10am-12noon, they include a complimentary session for the Happy Hookers afternoon tea on the same day from 1.30-3.30. After your scheduled workshop you may take a lunch break where you can wander up to the local cafes or take a mental rest however that looks for you. The Happy Hookers creative afternoon tea is a great way to be inspired by my other students, and to hone your skills a little more. It may become a regular event for you if you so choose. When booking your workshop please advise if you wish to take advantage of this.
