About Emma Galloway Emma Galloway (Te Atihaunui a Pāpārangi, Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, Ngāti Rangi) is the bestselling author of My Darling Lemon Thyme, A Year in My Real Food Kitchen and Every Day. She's also a former chef, photographer, stylist, budding potter (@tahu.ceramics) and creator of the award-winning food blog My Darling Lemon Thyme. Her work has appeared on Oprah.com and Food52 and in The Guardian, among others. She's a past recipient of the Tui Flower Award for Best Recipe Writing at the NZ Food Media Awards and a regular contributor to numerous magazines. Emma lives in Raglan, New Zealand, with her husband and two children. About the Book Thyme to Cook is a practical guide to growing, harvesting and cooking real food at home from bestselling writer, Emma Galloway. In her friendly and fuss-free style, Emma guides you through starting a garden, whether in the ground or in containers if space is short. She outlines the different stages of growing from seed, how to make simple and cost-effective soil amendments at home, the ins and outs of saving seeds and how to turn your food and garden waste into compost to add nutrients back into your soil. The in-depth growing guides give you all you need to know to grow over 25 different vegetables. With gardening comes bountiful homegrown produce, so you’ll also find more than 70 nourishing recipes to cook throughout the year. All recipes are vegetarian, flavour-packed and gluten-free. Not too many generations back, every family had a small garden in the yard, and knew how to live with the seasons. Sadly, the disconnect from how and where our food is grown means that many have lost the gardening knowledge that past generations took as a given. Emma celebrates today’s gardening resurgence: bringing with it the opportunity to reconnect with our food, have control over what goes into our bodies, limit our exposure to harmful chemicals, and foster self-reliance. The empowerment and joy of homegrown living radiate from the book’s pages. Thyme to Cook is a practical guide to growing, harvesting and cooking real food at home to nourish our bodies and minds! From successful cookery writer Emma Galloway. Midnight Murder at Hamlington Hall
Bookings now open for Midnight Murder at Hamlington Hall! News arrives at the theatre that several of the cast have the “dreaded lurgy” and are unable to appear that night. Never mind, the show must go on. Further news arrives that even more of the cast are down, and those who are gathered have to decide if the show can proceed. Shane also delivers the news that a member of the local council is in tonight to essentially decide the fate of the company. With just the Director and two cast members left standing, our troupe decide that the show MUST go on! So with the help of the stage manager (and her twelve year old niece) and a slightly unwilling audience member, opening night forges ahead. What follows is organised chaos as our cast swap hats and accents in a flurry of plate spinning, prop smashing, entrance missing madness. The play – Midnight Murder At Hamlington Hall – is a classic whodunnit story, lovingly adapted by Shane Tweed from the dubiously written novel by crime writer Mabel Shtint. A mixed bag of characters are invited to a secluded mansion, people keep getting murdered and we have to figure out who is the culprit. Our troupe of players soldier on bravely through all the pitfalls of theatre….ill fitting costumes, bad wigs, forgotten lines, bad acting, missing sound effects – the list goes on – and somehow manage to make it to the end of the show. Along the way our leading couple manage to realise they are in love, our stage manager discovers her talent for acting, our resident stalwart gets knocked down a peg or two and in a final twist we learn the audience member plucked out to perform is actually the local councillor sent to decide the fate of the Players. Naturally he has a ball, and the company is saved. Proving the adage true – The show must go on. Even when it sometimes probably shouldn’t. NOTE: This show will be BYO. Non-Alcoholic drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. The show contains strong course language & is not suitable for patrons under 15 years of age.
